About Japan Connect Guide

Japan Connect Guide is an independently run comparison site focused on one narrow problem: helping travelers pick between SIM cards, eSIMs, and pocket WiFi rentals for a trip to Japan, before they leave home. It's a small, independently operated site — not a large editorial staff — and we think that's worth being upfront about.

Why this site exists

Most Japan SIM/eSIM/WiFi content online is published directly by the providers themselves, comparing their own plan against a strawman. We don't sell SIM cards, eSIMs, or WiFi rentals. Our comparisons are built by researching publicly available pricing, plan terms, and independent customer reviews across providers, not by favoring whichever pays the highest commission.

How we compare providers

We evaluate each provider on the same criteria for every comparison:

• Price and data allowance — cost per plan relative to data included
• Coverage and network — which carrier network the plan runs on
• Plan flexibility — voice vs. data-only, contract length, pickup/delivery options
• Customer reviews — patterns across independent review platforms, not testimonials selected by the provider

Pricing and plan details are checked against each provider's official site. Pages note the date they were last verified; providers change pricing and plans periodically, so always confirm the current price on the provider's own checkout page before purchasing.
